The Leather Group makes a wide range of articles – from belts, pouches and bags to stock whips and more besides. A lot of what we produce is sold and the proceeds re-invested in buying leather and tools so that we are self-sufficient and also make funds for the Shed.We have a group of about 15 members and are close to capacity given the workspace that we have available to us at the Shed. But we are always anxious to accommodate newcomers if we can.
We pride ourselves in having an easy going camaraderie – some might say that there is more talk than work. Our members are always happy to pass on their expertise so no previous experience is required to join our group and to enjoy the leather work. We have tools available which can be used – there is no need to buy any though many of our members have their own tools. We can guide a newcomer as to the tools he might wish to get if leather working grabs his interest.
We meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8.30am to 2pm. Our Team Leader is John Green and his deputy is John Stevenson.
